Public Petition
SAVE Historic Harvey Young Airport
The only
general aviation airport in Tulsa, Oklahoma !!!
Harvey Young Airport
in East Tulsa is in danger of being
turned into low-income housing complex.
We call
on the Tulsa City Council to keep the historic
airport serving the nationwide community of light airplanes, and to
prevent the
use of public tax money for building on its land, which is unsuitable
or costly
for building purposes.
We call
on the new owner of Harvey Young Airport,
aviation company “Southwest Aviation” of Jenks, Oklahoma, to respect
his peers
in the aviation community nationwide and the Oklahoma public, and to
adhere to
the moral of good citizenship and airmanship.
Harvey Young Airport
is the home for many aviation activities, most of them cannot be
performed in
any other of the bigger airports nearby.
It is the home of:
Historic airplanes of WW1 and
WW2 eras;
Numerous Ultralight airplanes;
Many Homebuilt power airplanes;
Flight Schools of single and
twin engine airplanes;
Charity flights.
It serves as the mooring place
of:
airships for events such as PGA
pro golf tournament
blimps like the Outback
Steakhouse;
hot air balloons;
Many coming from afar.
It is used for Historic
preservation of one-of-a-kind airplanes;
It is the training field for
official Helicopters;
It is the landing base for many
transient aircraft that cross the country.
Keep these activities alive!
Prevent the
sale of the airport for uses such as
Costly
development on hard rock land at probable tax payer expense
Keep
this community asset as an Active Airport
for
generations to come!
